Locating the 'Edges of Oddness'
This morning I received an email from Mary Pratt who said “The Fairy who appeared this morning inspired my daily poem.”
Her fairy was-
Hurray for the ‘Fairy of Around the Edges of Oddness.’ My friend Tracy Thresher used that phrase in an explanation and the words stayed in my head till one day they crept out as a fairy.
I asked Mary if I could share her poem and her daily fairy practice and she agreed.
Mary’s poem is an amazing description of where you won’t find the ‘edges’ and where you might. (there’s a link to it below) I look forward to sharing it with Tracy because I think he will enjoy its resonance.
Regarding her daily practice Mary said- I’ve just been picking a fairy out of the pack every day—in a fairly orderly way—the one on the top—since Cathy gave them to me. When I’ve been through the whole deck, I’ll shuffle and start again. The Chosen Fairy is hung up on a kitchen cabinet so I can see it off and on all day. I like them so very much!
I love hearing this.
Do you have a story to tell about how the fairies play a part in your life in a daily way? Or, like Mary, art inspired by the fairies?
I would love to know because I’m developing a home on our website for the Bluebird Community. You can find Mary’s poem here.
We are thankful to be a part of your lives.
Onward and Upward!

Letting it All Be Okay
Friends of Bluebird Fairies,
People often ask me if I’m always so positive and I often respond with “No, that’s why I have all these fairies around me.”
The fairies are here, in part, as support for the lifelong lesson that our best character developments come, at times, through adversity.
And, just in time for this blog writing, I’ve come across a newly drawn fairy that supports this idea. Please join me in welcoming….
The ‘Fairy of Letting it all be okay.’ I love her enthusiastic words saying “Yes. Let’s Let it!”
I’m reading a book my mother gave me for my birthday. It’s called The Book of Joy: Lasting Happiness in a Changing World. It shares the stories and outcome of a week-long visit between the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
When the 8 pillars of Joy were introduced I felt I was given a great gift. Now, when I find myself in a situation that feels really thick in my mind OR I’m having a feeling of tightness in my chest OR I’m flustered by my inability to fit all the things I want to into a period of time, I think of them.
They are: Perspective, Humility, Humor, Acceptance, Forgiveness, Gratitude, Compassion and Generosity.
Just thinking of them, takes me to a better place where it’s easier to relax, breathe and, yes, move into ‘letting it all be okay.’
We’re wishing you all the best!
Happy Spring!!!
Fondly,
Emily and the Bluebird Fairies
