Fairy of the Yarrow Flowers

Hello Dear Blog Readers,

Today's Fairy is a brand new one.

Yarrow is a wonderful flower that grows gently throughout the land in which I live.  There's a patch right near the front steps to our house. It’s going to bloom soon so I consulted Ted Andrews' book Nature-Speak for some background information.

Here are some of his words:

“Yarrow reminds us that we receive signs every day.  It alerts us to pay attention and to trust in them- even if they do not seem logical.”

I take this gentle counsel into my heart as I head into believing all the plans and intentions I'm currently involved in are in the hands of the 'Fairy of It Will all Happen' and the paradoxical 'Fairy of Not Doing and All Gets Done'.

Ted Andrews also says “Many believe that when you see the first blossom in a yarrow patch, you should make a wish and it will come true.”

My Friday nights at the Arts Riot's Truck Stop have been wonderful. Having three under my belt I can now describe the scene with some accuracy.

Amidst food, drink and folks of many sizes and kinds you’ll find my pleasant fairy booth when you venture into the performance space of Arts Riot. I'm next to a guy selling awesome clothes and across from artists from Vintage Inspired selling all kind of cool things.  Passersby pause to look at the easy, fun fairies sitting in the racks that comprise the fairy booth. Often they get into looking at every card and I enjoy watching a nice smile grow on their faces as they do this.  Quite a few people sit down with me for a Fairy Card Reading.

Believe it or not, the clamor around us disappears. The smart design of the booth provides a perfect setting for a fun conversation inspired by the fairies.  Every night I’m amazed at the travels these conversations take us on.

Come on down.  There are two basic readings and a special reading of the week to choose from.  And each week there are prizes and a raffle and..... this week we'll reveal some things hot off the press.

Lastly....if you are considering the Bluebird Fairies Oracle Class please contact me so I can give you more information about it.  I also want to offer to people from the Burlington area the idea that we carpool together.   We're going to have a blast in this class!!!  (If it happens)

Make a wish today and wait for it to arrive.

All the best,

Emily and the Bluebird Fairies

Uncle Energy

Dear Friends of Bluebird Fairies,

Hello.  I’m back after a pause to focus on finishing my “Start Up” program at The Women’s Small Business Program.

Here’s our current Fairy of the Blog:

I was thinking of my Uncle Tom who lives out in Colorado Springs when I drew this.  He’s the benevolent patriarch of our Anderson Family.  I see him rarely but when I do he always gives me a bright smile and shines his brilliant Paul Newman eyes on me and then says something positive about my life even though I suspect he finds my route through it to be quite curious.

I just finished teaching some writing classes with the Young Writers Project.  In one class we used fairies from the Bluebird Fairies Deck as prompts for stories.  An INCREDIBLE story emerged about a guy named Bob who was assisted by the Fairy of Uncle Energy.  When I get a copy of that story I’ll share it with you.  And more.  It is a blast to see how the Bluebird Fairies come to life in other people’s lives and imaginations.

Uncle Energy is timely for me.

I have graduated from the Women’s Small Business Program(WSBP).  My business plan for has been written.  Outside reviewers have seen, approved and are heralding our fledgling movements forward.

You can hear more about my experience and upcoming plans in a wonderful interview Gwen Pokalo, Director of WSBP, did with me on CCTV (channel 17).

Yes, you can find me in my Fairy Booth every Friday night (except July 3) at the Arts Riot Truck Stop in Burlington.   Each week there will be a variety of Fairy Card readings to choose from.  Fairy Cards and Fairy Decks to purchase.  Each week we’ll have different specials and activities.  So come often!

Lastly, I am offering a 4-week class that introduces people to the Bluebird Fairies Fairy Deck up at Michele Nappi’s Moonlight Gift Shoppe in Milton.  I don’t think of the Fairy Deck as an Oracle deck as much as I think of it as an inspirational and reflective tool for feeling good about yourself and your life.  And that’s definitely what our focus will be each week of this fun-filled, light hearted class.  Please consider joining us.  And call Michele at (802) 893-9966 to sign up.

And now, back for a moment with the Fairy of Uncle Energy

What in your life needs a confident, warm, encouraging smile?  A smile that brims over with assuredness for your success.

Let it in!

Be well,

Emily and The Bluebird Fairies

Thank Yous to the Universe

Hello Friends of Bluebird Fairies,

First and foremost, thank you to all who have filled out surveys for Bluebird Fairies. It's been inspiring to read your words describing how the work we're creating fits into your lives in meaningful ways.

I drew the Fairy of this blog posting on April 18th.

She with her radiant hair, big wings and exclamations of “Oh”, “Ah” and “Yes!” was and is perfect.

April 18th was a marvelous spring Saturday here in Vermont.  It was the day that Brian and I had secured for doing work around the yard and swamp.  I've lived here for 2 years and have enjoyed all the work this unique house and interesting land in which it resides provides.  How fun it was on that day to open up and share this satisfying work.

Every night Brian and I each thank the day for 3 things it has given us.  This is a wonderful activity.   I and I suspect many of you share this with me, have many, many, many wishes for each day so it’s easy to feel at the end of one like I’ve not succeeded to address even a portion of them. Taking a moment to sum up all that a day was is a graceful practice of accepting what is

Today I have 3 things to thank the universe for:

1.  I’m reading Alice Walker's The Cushion in the Road: Meditation and Wandering as the Whole World Awakens to Being in Harm's Way.   She is a model of being beautifully aware of herself and she has a great love for our world which she shares with this same keen awareness.   Thank you, Alice.

2.  My neighbor, Jean, cut branches of Forsythia for my friend Libby and me.  So there’s a neat bramble of branches here in the house in a huge ceramic crock.  On Saturday it bloomed and now fills the house with fresh yellow.

3.  I am thankful to live on a piece of land where I can hear, feel and see spring growing.

What are you thankful for today??? Please think it, feel it, and love it!

And now for a few announcements:

Bluebird Fairies is taking part in the Moonlight Mind, Body Spirit event that is being hosted by Michele Nappi's Moonlight Gift Shoppe; a wonderful store up in Milton, Vermont.  Please stop in and see us at the event on May 2 at the Hilton.

The Fairy Booth will be up and I'll be giving my new 'Three Messages' Consultations.  At noon I'll give a workshop about my fun, easy fairy and demon drawing process.  More info can be found by clicking here.

Lastly, Bluebird Fairies has a Facebook page.  Please like us, share us, friend us....

Thank you again for all of the positive support for the work we’re creating.

Be well and we'll be in touch soon.

Fondly,

Emily and Bluebird Fairies

Not Doing and All Gets Done

Hello Dear Bluebird Fairy Friends,

I hope you are doing well and enjoying the opening of spring and the wonderful messages the holidays of this time bring to our lives.

I have been in a flurry of active pursuits.  Some are at home.  Many are out in the world assisting my creation of a Business Plan for Bluebird Fairies.

Last week I was at home organizing my Fairy Cards for an upcoming event at The SPACE Gallery (see fabulous Stephanie Salmon flier below).  Organizing the fairies is always a struggle.  One issue was not being able to find any of one fairy that I realized I’d not seen for a while. I jokingly wondered if he and his gang had felt unappreciated and run away. Or had so many people purchased this kind of fairy that there were simply none left?

I found him in my stock at the studio.  His disappearance, by then, had piqued my awareness of how much I need him.   So, I'm changing my protocol for this blog posting and, rather than pulling one at random from my Fairy Deck, declaring him “The Fairy of the Blog”.

Ladies and Gentlemen please join me in welcoming:

Busy with obligations, pursuits, decisions, meetings and the many hours we put in at our respective “jobs” how can we let his message sink in?

We take a breath, smile and relax.

Join me in knowing that so much is happening under the surface of our days.  Our belief in this allows the space for the right things to happen at the right time.

I'm delighted to be returning to The SPACE Gallery this Friday for the First Friday art opening.  It’s a great show you shouldn’t miss and the Creative Competition will be happening as well.

The Fairy Booth will be up.  Fairy Cards and Decks will be available for purchase.  The readings are free.  Stop in and say 'Hi.'

Enjoy it all.

All the best,

Emily and The Bluebird Fairies

Yes! Take the Time to Hold You Dearly

Hello Dear Bluebird Blog Readers,

I hope you are all doing well.

I have a cold and am home taking it easy.  It is for this reason I can finally write to you about the fairy I drew from my Fairy Deck on March 8th.

This man fairy with his gentle grin, soft hair and lopsided legs is part of a group in the Fairy Deck that offer earnest good words with a sense that they share a hesitance about their lives.   Their names, however, are strong and their speech bubbled comments such as this fellow's "This is it" and "Yes, indeed" are firm.  And so we all move forward.

It is not till now that I have allowed myself to gracefully sink into the sofa and let my heavy cares wash around in my brain and then flow out the door to join the melting snows and thawing river that hugs the land on which we live.

Ah....

There is always so much in one’s head.  And here on the couch I have to admit I'm surrounded by my large Women's Small Business Program Binder and notes from a small business event I attended on Wednesday. And, yes, I've been exploring the web sites of my competitors with my little iPad.

I just read a good tip.  Accept Displacement.  When starting to create a business it's important to realize that any task you do will be displacing another one because there is not enough of you.  The key is to know what things need to be done now and be ok for the time being that the other things are not being done.  I am challenged by a need to do it all.

That's why I keep stopping to remember that I'm taking this time to hold myself dearly.  I do and then a little bit more worry travels out of me.

Can you take a moment to do this too?  I hope so.

Friends, in the next blog I'll have announcements of exciting upcoming events and a few of the great testimonials from people getting the most out of their Fairy Decks.

I wish you all well and that the kind sun is shining on your life in these ever brightening days.

Fondly,

Emily and the Bluebird Fairies
