The Fairy of It's All Going to Happen

Hello Dear Blog Readers,

This winter it has been quite cold on the East Coast and many other places.  It’s so easy during times like this to feel that our hopes and dreams have been stilled.  That the things we’re trying to get done will never move into the spaces that allow their success to blossom.

As my boyfriend, Brian, and I embarked on a weekend that had a list of fun activities, discussion topics for forward thinking and necessary restorative rituals I drew this fairy from our Fairy Deck.

Here is the origin of this fairy.  Last year I wrote to a friend who has advised me on important elements of my life for several years.  In it I detailed an epiphany I’d just had of how my future work efforts should and could move forward.  It was a lot of stuff and much of it I am working on at The Women’s Small Business Program and with Utter Communication Strategies.   The response I received from my friend was-

'It's all going to happen.'

This Fairy gives me such hope.

She’s giving it to you wherever and whenever you need it in your life.

Please be well.

Fondly,

Emily and the Bluebird Fairies

Apples Growing in Prague

Dear Friends of Bluebird Fairies,

This blog posting’s Fairy was selected by my dear friend and huge Fairy Fan Stephanie Salmon.  She wants to know his story because she finds him confusing and even confessed that when she asks a friend to select a Fairy Card from her Fairy Deck she hopes this guy won't show up. Please welcome, everyone.....

This is his story:

When I worked with The Bread and Puppet Theater we traveled a lot rehearsing and performing large puppet spectacles with people all over the world.  My favorite place in Europe was the city of Prague. So magical it was for me with its architecture looking like it had grown out of the very rocks that formed the land in which it was situated.  I've held the feeling of being there in my heart for 20 years yearning to go back to see and feel it again.

Last year Dexter, a world traveller and the man who owns the round house I live in, travelled to Eastern Europe for the first time. I told him how much I loved Prague and hoped he would visit there.

When he came home he had a jar of dried apples from Prague that a friend had given him as a present.  Each time I heard him tell stories of his trip he ended them saying that of all the places he went the City of Prague was his favorite.

“The Fairy of Apples Growing in Prague” represents to me the times we know what we want and yet allow it to find its way into our lives in a different way.  That’s one of the reasons it’s a good idea to “leave room for the magic”.  When it happens it feels wonderful.

Have you had an experience or two like this?  Can you let this fairy bring you hope for unique miracles in your life,

Here’s a fun testimonial of how the Fairy Deck is working in one family’s life.

“We love the fairy cards!  I keep forgetting to tell my mom that they are part of our weekly family meeting ritual.”

-Rachel Siegel

Please keep the comments coming, dear friend, we love them!!!

With great love for the late afternoon light,

Being Part of it All

Hello Dear Friends of Bluebird Fairies,

The event on Friday Feb 6th at The S.P.A.C.E. Gallery was wonderful.  I did 21 Fairy Card Readings.  Each conversation between me, the person and 3 fairies selected from the Fairy Deck allowed for fun reflection and genuine human connection to happen. I'm thankful to Christy Mitchell and other artists at the Gallery for providing me with this space in time.

I'm moving into my 2nd week with the Women's Small Business Program.  It is a great fortune for me to have this time and space in my life to explore the business possibilities of my fairies and demons.  It is so easy to lose the confidence I need to move this unique idea forward.

I am delighted the Fairy of this Blog Posting is

He's such a positive looking fellow.  His message reminds me that our best gift is our unique ways of being human.  If we hold this idea in our hearts as we move forward with our wish to make a positive difference in the world we are sure to succeed.  Accepting ourselves allows us to accept others.

I took this fairy's picture on a dark background because I want to show that the Fairy Cards have had a change in appearance.

Rounded corners!

I had no idea I would like them so much or that it would make the Fairy Decks feel so professional.

The book happened to be my copy of the 3rd edition of Ballentine's Law Dictionary which my Grandfather edited many years ago.  My Grandfather was a lawyer who worked for the Lawyer's Cooperative Publishing Company in Rochester, NY.  When he retired as the Managing Editor he took on the ambitious project of editing the law dictionary.  In it he added many new terms along with explanations of their origins.

How does the Fairy of Being a Part of it All in Your Way speak to you at this moment in your life?  Enjoy the thoughts that arise.  Feel sturdy in your ability to know yourself.

Happy Valentine's Day or (as my brother says) Singles Awareness Day.

We are all moving forward with the tools we need.  We’ll find them.

Wishing you the very best,

Emily and the Bluebird Fairies

Onward and Upward

Dear Friends of Bluebird Fairies,

Once again I’m enrolled in the Women’s Small Business Program (WSBP) at Mercy Connections in Burlington, Vermont.

Last year I participated in the 15-week program and received a “certificate of participation” for my deep struggle to package the innovative projects that comprised my work history for the past 18 years.  Around week 10 we did an exercise called “Hot Seat”.  My classmates and I took turns introducing anything we wanted feedback on. We then peppered that person with comments and questions.  I introduced my “other handed” personal drawing project and said “My friend Stephanie Salmon thinks these fairies are worth sharing with others. What do you think?”  The conversation that followed ignited a spark that has grown into my Bluebird Fairy Project.  The darkness is now slinking away like a scribbled demon that’s been given a name and been appeased by its perfect antidote.

On February first the Women’s Small Business Program begins and so does my steady march towards a business plan.  This will take creativity and discipline to achieve.  For this reason I’m delighted to announce that the Fairy of this Blog posting is:

In the past I have not done this enough.  I suspect you might share with me a hesitation to let the reins of your life slip from your firm grasp.  Today I’ve already had 15 minutes.  Tomorrow I hope to do the same.

Last year in the WSBP I was introduced to John Cleese’s lecture on creativity.

In a shower of “How many _____ does it take to screw in a light bulb?” jokes he gives his recipe for creativity.  He delightfully emphasizes the huge importance of having periods of time in which one can be “open” and playful.  It is in these unrestricted times he feels our best thinking comes.  Then you go into a “closed” mode and do the things you thought about doing.  Then you open back up to reflect and refine.  On it goes till you’re done.

So, my friend, lie on the couch.  Today and every day.  Just a little. With some abandon.

Thank you for supporting this project moving forward.  Your words and comments are immensely helpful.

Those of you in the Burlington area, please join us for the February 6th First Friday event at The S.P.A.C.E. Gallery on Pine St.

The Fairy Booth will be up for Fairy Card Readings.  Come have a fairy card reading done, purchase your own Fairy Deck and individual Fairy Cards or select one of our new “love” packages.

Take care.

Fondly,

Emily and the Bluebird Fairies

Fairy of the Sun

Hello Friends of Bluebird Fairies,

So soon in my proposed blog writing schedule I took a little snooze.  Luckily, my dear bird friend gave me a little nudge with her wing. I’m quite thankful for this because the Fairy of this Blog posting is a fun guy to meet.  Please join me in welcoming...

Black fairy band.jpg

I’ve just returned from a short walk on the land where I live.  I saw deer tracks, big cat tracks, my tracks and Brian’s too.  I marvelled at the creek; a frozen, white and glistening ribbon curling easily through the sunny, snowy landscape.    Beneath the brilliant blue sky I stilled my body to drink it all in.

We all know life is not always so brightly lit.  For me, this glorious day has arrived after several days of revealing and, overall, helpful darkness.

Today when I drew this Fairy from my deck I recalled the day I created him with a fine tip marker on an index card.  Eagerly I wrote the words naming what I felt and knew I needed. They lurched and tumbled out leaving barely any room for the fairy they were bringing to life.  After fitting him in on the bottom of the card I looked and thought ‘He looks so odd!  Maybe he can go someplace I don’t see him often’.

Many months later I find that I have a great fondness for him. To me he seems like a small, powerful, happy guy who like the sun relentlessly shines for us all.

How does the Fairy of Getting Through by Trusting in the Sun” resonate in your life, dear friend?

Contact me with your stories and questions.  I love to hear them.  Soon I’ll share with you some of the many amazing ways people are connecting with the fairies.

Interested in your own Fairy Deck? Please go to our on-line store.  Interested in an individual Fairy Card?  Contact me.

We’ll be in touch soon with another Fairy.

Be well.
