Comfort and Easy Joy

Hello Dear Friends of Bluebird Fairies,

I'm happy that so many of the fun people I chatted with at Burlington's South End Art Hop have joined our blog posting email list.  Three times a month I write a posting about the fairies I pull from my fairy deck on the 8th, 18th and 28th of each month.

On the 18th I pulled this wonderful fairy:

She's, as always, perfect.

In just a few days I will be leaving the home I lived in for over two and a half years.  This is noteworthy to Bluebird Fairies as it is here in this elegantly organic round house that this company was brought into existence.  And it's not just the house but the whole area with its 'Grandmother Tree' in the backyard, the many trees I've named, the ring of ferns that surrounds us all and the dear creek named Lewis that is always moving alongside us.

This house has been 'comfort and easy joy' for me.  Two years ago as I was ending a difficult job situation I would be calmed by the thought that at the end of the day I would be home.  This continues to be true but the necessity is less strong.

The house was built by a group of women in the 70's to be a place of healing.  Now, I feel that for those people who seek health this house is more than ready to heal.   During my years here the house has broken down a lot of the barriers in me that kept me from finding my own comfort and easy joy.

The truth is that we always have the ability to find comfort and easy joy.  Our hearts know us well.  When we are clear enough to connect with them they can let us know just what to do.

Every day I pick a “Fairy of the Day”.  When it's 'Comfort and Easy joy' I sometimes get a little 'ticked' when the day is actually rather challenging.  But when I recall her funny face and softly electrified hairdo I chuckle.  I know she's reminding me to listen to the 'tick' of my heart so I can slip into a softer way of being; no matter what I'm in the middle of.

So, find your way, dear friends to your hearts.  Fairy Decks are always available for your assistance on our web site.  And I've got the Fairy Booth up on Oct 2 and 9 at the final two Arts Riot Truck Stops of the season.  Lastly, know that I’m always available for comment or a consultation.

Be well!

Fondly,

Emily and the Bluebird Fairies

A Bright New Day

Hello Friends of Bluebird Fairies,

And now, here to support my efforts in celebrating the arrival of the 2015 South End Art Hop, I present the....

She’s, of course, perfect.

On the same day I drew her from my Fairy Deck a CD from my friend, Jernigan Pontiac, arrived in the mail.   In the accompanying letter he urged me to listen to this song: “Cherish the Day.”

It’s been a welcome present.  For the past few years my life has been working through a great transition.  Kristina’s song allows me to honor and release all that has happened along the way.

A magical opportunity appeared on the final day of last year's Art Hop.  A door in my life opened when I met Brian Merrill at my fairy display.  He’s become a partner to my life and an inspiration to my work with Bluebird Fairies.

We are daily stepping through doorways and into “Bright New Days.”  We have routines that cherish each of our days with gratitude and greet each new day with clear intentions.  And, of course, we daily pick cards from the Bluebird Fairy Deck.

How do you hold each day?

How do you greet each new one with your brightest light?

Last year I was so excited (and nervous) about the Art Hop.  I had no idea how people would respond to my 63 fairies and what would happen next.

What happened was I found that I loved talking about the fairies.  I felt confident in sharing my process in making them.  I enjoyed seeing how people responded to them.

This year I’m excited to set up the Bluebird Fairy Booth in our E-1 Studio Collective/Art Space 27B.

On Friday from 5-10 I’m planning to have fun, informal conversations about our products and services.  We’ll, of course, have fairy decks and cards, t-shirts and brand new “Framed Fairies” available for purchase.

Raffles and contests and prizes too!!

On Saturday and Sunday, I’ll be in the studio at the Fairy Booth from 12-5 and will be offering Fairy Card Readings from 1-4.

So please stop by!

Thank you all for your wonderful support of our work.

Please drop us a line when you have a moment.

And, above all, enjoy being you!!

Fondly,

Emily and the Bluebird Fairies

Confirmation

Hello New and Returning Friends of Bluebird Fairies,

Here is the ‘Fairy of the Blog’ that I drew from my Fairy Deck on August 28th.

I love this guy!

How strong my days are when I can step into them holding the message of this fairy close to my heart!

And how easily the work of my life moves when I honor that each of the people I encounter have room in their hearts for a similar message for themselves.

I'll write you soon with the message of the fairy I draw from my deck on the 8th.  It'll assist me in telling you what Bluebird Fairies is doing at the Burlington South End Art Hop this year.

Until then,

Live your lives!

And love all that arises in them.

Let’s grow as healthy individuals in this magical world of life.

Fondly,

Emily and the Bluebird Fairies

Letting the Realness of Life In

Dear Friends of Bluebird Fairies,

It’s been a busy summer so I’m just now having a moment to write about the “Fairy of the Blog” which I drew from my Fairy Deck on August 18th.  I’m delighted to introduce to you...

He’s perfect because on August 17th I returned to full-time work.   Some of us, I realize, are just busy people with full lives by nature.  For nearly two years I’ve been a busily under employed person and now I’m a busily fully employed person with a LOT of life going on all around me. Can this work?  Yes!

The “Fairy of Letting the Realness of Life in and Breathing Your True Magic Out” serves as a reminder of how living a full life works best.  Allowing all the obligations and responsibilities and dreams and setbacks and wonders that fill your life to exist without avoiding them or being overwhelmed by them can feel at times like a large challenge.  Some people call it “living an authentic life.”

Brene Brown in her book, The Gifts of Imperfection, defines “Authenticity” as “a collection of choices that we have to make every day.  It's about the choice to show up and be real.  The choice to be honest.  The choice to let our true selves be seen."

In with the breaths of true air and enjoy the magic that unfolds.

We’d like to welcome all the new members to this email list.  I've met most of you recently at the Bluebird Fairy Booth at the Arts Riot Truck Stop or the Bluebird Fairies exhibit at The Bread and Puppet Museum in Glover, Vermont.

Every Friday I have fun at the Truck Stop meeting people from many walks of life. My four Fairy Card Reading sessions in Glover were equally wonderful.  It's hugely rewarding to have conversations about what is positive and moving forward in people's lives.  In Glover, I talked with beautifully weary puppeteers, old friends and people who’d travelled from far and near to see the work of this world renowned theater.

Director, Peter Schumann, gave me a great review for our first exhibit. "Emily, you have been a Woodshed Gallery Success. People love the Bluebird Fairies!"  Thank you, Peter.  And now there are Decks of Fairy Cards settling into homes in places as far as San Francisco and Paris.  I’m really excited that a t-shirt of “The Fairy of Not Doing and All gets Done” has travelled overseas to Oxford University.

Thank you for taking a moment to read this posting.  Another, short and sweet one will arrive soon and then updates about Bluebird Fairies’ activities in connection with The South End Art Hop in Burlington, Vermont.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to send me a message.

And definitely friend us on Facebook!  There you can see lots of pictures of happy people at the Bluebird Fairy Booth.

Be well.

Fondly,

Emily and the Bluebird Fairies

The Grandmother Tree

This blog posting’s Fairy is.....

The origin of this fairy is my Grandma Anderson.  In my mind’s eye I see her smiling with her eyes twinkling beneath her short, easy-to-manage, steel grey hair, and declaring "Emily, all your life you will always be adopting new people!" It’s true.  I’m lucky to know many people, including you, in very wonderful ways.

Whenever I feel a little blue about one area of my life or I find myself in a situation that feels tight ‘The Fairy of the Grandmother Tree’ reminds me to open up to all of my life and feel the “wide love” it holds for me, “here”.

There is a tree in the backyard of the home where I live that feels like ‘The Grandmother Tree.’ It reaches upwards and widely.  Ted Andrews in his book, Nature-Speak, says we each have a tree connected with our spirit. I know this one in the backyard will always, like the memory of my grandmother, be with me.

Do you have a tree that resonates with you?

Words of wisdom from an elder?

Please, allow these twinkling eyes and merry smiles from your wide life to comfort you whenever you need it.

“Bluebird Fairies and Personal Stages for G.R.A.C.E. Founder Don Sunseri” is the name of my exhibit in The Woodshed Gallery at The Bread and Puppet Theater in Glover, Vermont.  It’s up until August 16th and will end with a “Closing Event” after the Pageant.

As many of you may know I draw my fairies with my non-dominant hand. This exhibit includes the world premiere of Meredith Holch's rhymed verse; "How Lefty Lee's Left Handedness Came to Be'. It's a fun retelling of how I broke my right arm rehearsing a circus act and got started on something that, little did we know, would evolve into Bluebird Fairies.

If you’re in Glover for this weekend’s Saturday and/or Sunday shows please check it out.

On Sunday, I'll have the Bluebird Fairy Booth in The Woodshed Gallery and will do readings, sell cards, Fairy Decks, T-shirts and the larger-than-usual prints of fairies that are on exhibit.

Can’t wait to see you here or in some other location!

Be well and, please, take moments to stop and smile.

Fondly,

Emily and the Bluebird Fairies
