Setting Sail for the Magical Year Ahead

Dear Friends of Bluebird,

I hope this finds you in good spirits.

We’re moving into the school year and in spite of all the shifts and uncertainty I’m feeling hopeful we’re stepping into a magical new year.

Here’s a fairy to support you in feeling that too:

Setting Sail for the Magical Year.jpg

Yep. ‘The Fairy of Setting Sail for the Magical Year Ahead’ with a yellow flag in one hand and a blue one in the other exclaiming ‘Oh Yeah’ and ‘Onward and Upward!’

Here in the South End Arts District we’re getting ready for the 28th annual South End Arts Hop.

Many of you know that this is Bluebird Fairies’ birthday. Our 6th! We’re moving into the 7th year of our existence.

What are we doing for Art Hop? You can check it all out in this Seven Days Art Hop Program

On page 15 you’ll see there’s a pre art hop event at 208 Flynn Ave. on Thursday between 1-4 called “No road to all decisions”. I’m a large accordion playing fairy in this show connected with the movement of the World’s Largest Filing Cabinet (by crane!) to it’s new pedestal. I’m excited to be performing with Stuart Paton of Taiko Drumming.

On Friday-Sunday I’ll be in our Bluebird Fairies studio which has been redesigned to have a small fairy shop and a lot of room for my weaving loom. We’ll have Fairy Decks, Prosperity Fairies, Mask Fairies, Fairy of the Day stands and, of course, LOTS of good vibes.

Our Art Hop hours are listed on Page 15. We’ll have some interactive activities in the hallway throughout the weekend so please stop by even if the hours don’t coincide.

Please note that on page 13 there’s an official Art Hop map. We’re #18 but if you really want to find us think of us being two floors above #17. We’ll have signs up.

Now, if you don’t want to be with people this year we totally understand. I’m happy to say that I created art work specifically for Art Hop and it can be viewed at VCAM/RETN at 208 Flynn AND ON-LINE. The 6 pieces comprise a work inspired by His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 8 Pillars of Joy. All pieces are for sale. I’ll keep making more so let me know if you’d like one made for you. (for those of you NOT in Vermont- you can get a big dose of this year’s Art Hop virtually- do check in out)

AND, if you still have your paper or virtual Art Hop program nearby PLEASE flip to the back page and check out the bright Bluebird Fairies ad on the last page. Created by Stephanie Salmon of Gotham City Graphics, its aim is to assist our goal to spread positivity world wide. If you don’t have the Fairy of the Day app. Consider getting it. If you have, please consider giving it a review. Click here for the app.

More than anything, though, thank you for continuing to support our work. We are happy to be a part of the world. Our goal this year is to keep supporting people in finding and maintaining positivity so it can be as magical as we deserve.

All the best to you all!

Assisting You with Your Own Daily Routines and Practices

Dear Friends of Bluebird Fairies,

I hope you are well and moving through these uncertain times with hope and light alive in your hearts and minds.

What’s helping me these days are my daily practices. I hope you’re finding that too. Here’s a fairy to support us in developing and maintaining these routines:

Fairy that assists you with your own daily spiritual routines.jpg

Ah, yes! ‘The Fairy that Assists You with Your Own Daily Spiritual Routines and Practices.’ Here she is in her blue dress, holding a lit candle in one hand, her pen in another and proclaiming “I’m here to assist you to make space for this in your life.”

The South End Art Hop season is approaching and with it comes the 6th anniversary of me sharing my fairies with the world.

I had no idea when I created my drawing practice that it would have such resonance with others. Intuitively, I guess, I had a sense it would be valuable.

Now, there are so many people connected to these fairies! The stories of how the fairies interact with them fill me with such joy.

There’s a woman who daily uses both a deck and the app and she excitedly emailed me the other day that she’d gotten the same fairy with both, the ‘Fairy of Easy Errand.’ It was just what she needed to get twice.

Another woman wrote and shared she’d received the “Fairy of Letting the Realness of Life in and Breathing Your True Magic Out“ and it helped her reach her deadline.

Someone else sends me poems when her daily fairy inspires her to write one about it.

The idea for creating the ‘Fairy of the Day’ app was to make the fairy drawings more accessible and available to people beyond my local community. A great lead from Champlain College’s gaming program connected me with graduates who’d formed a company called Sundae Month. They beautifully worked with me to create something that presents the essence of Bluebird Fairies well. I love that someone refers to the app as the ‘safe space on my phone.’

Recently, I read through the reviews of the app and again felt the sense of community that has grown around Bluebird Fairies. So, I’m putting energy into promoting it. These are poignant times we’re in and I feel people could use the app to cope with our present uncertainty, develop opportunities and cultivate and/or maintain a sense of positivity.

I’m excited about the South End Art Hop which will begin on Friday September 11th in Burlington, Vermont. I’ll be writing shortly to let you know how Bluebird will be participating.

In the meantime, I hope you are finding ways to daily ground yourself with routines that support you in moving forward.

Onward and upward.

All the best,

Emily and the Bluebird Fairies

Baby Blue Jay

Hello Friends,

I hope this finds you well.

The other day I woke hearing a very curious sound outside the window. It was a baby Blue Jay making a whiny coo as its mother fed it. How wonderful to see this majestic bird as a fuzzy miniature.

We are in an incredible time of shifts, adjustments and changes in the midst of new growth and developing greater understandings.

It is, however, hard to find HOW TO BE as everything continues NOT to resettle into what we have known before.

Lena from the Power Path Seminars and School of Shamanism titled this month- “Intense Adjustment” and ends her forecast with ‘Keep a focus on beauty and embrace change as a thrilling challenge instead of from a place of fear.’

You can read her entire writing for August here-

The baby Blue Jay inspired this fairy:

Fairy of the Baby Blue Jay.jpg

I love this fun fairy lady with her blue dress. Her outstretched arm is a perch to a baby Blue Jay who’s singing ‘Chirp Chirp’ while the fairy says ‘It’s time to grow your personal powers!”

Providing space in our lives to create our own solid ground will give us a place to cultivate our gifts.

I’ve been doing that by renewing my daily practice of drawing my demons and my fairies. I’m still planning to find a way to provide on-line opportunities for people to learn this practice. If you’re interested, please let me know.

In the meantime, I’ve been hearing wonderful reports from people taking a moment to sit and draw their demons and write their antidotes. I’ve also been getting some fun fairies in the mail. Here’s ‘The Fairy of Scribble’ from Arthur of Highland Park, New York:

Please continue to take care of yourselves, your communities and allow the ‘Earnest Little Drawings of Bluebird Fairies to Help you do BIG THINGS.’ It’s time.

All the best,

Emily and Bluebird Fairies

Foraging and Prosperity Fairies

Dear Friends of Bluebird Fairies,

I hope this find you well.

During the days of my ‘shelter in place’ I spent a lot of time walking in the woods near my home. Inspired by thoughts of food insecurity I became even more interested in finding things I could harvest to eat. This has been an enriching experience and a great reminder that all around us are plants filled with nutrients that often are overlooked or discarded to make room for other plants.

While our lives continue to have restrictions, let’s look for the riches around us. Here’s a fairy to support that search:

Foraging Fairy.jpg

I love this fairy’s big smile and arms with abundant greens. His proclamations of gratitude spilling into speech bubbles;‘Thank You!’ ‘Ah, yes!’

Within our lives we can forage. I suspect you, too, have been finding old wishes and pockets of time here and there. And, maybe like me you’ve found true treasures- my grandmother’s typewriter, an accordion I, until now, thought was too big for me.

AND…there’s the Prosperity Fairies!!!!

These are four fairies a woman found at my Fairy Booth last summer. They were ‘one of a kind fairies, each framed and ready to go. She really wanted them to become Fairy Cards. And, now, here they are, the first set of supplemental cards for the Bluebird Fairy Deck.

Is your Fairy Deck (or your friend’s) feeling like it needs some enrichment? These 4 fairies: ‘Healthy Wealth’, ‘Your Life Efforts Flowing Easily, ‘Money and Connected Troubles’ and ‘New Truth, Choice and Action’ are ready to join you. You can find them here at our store.

Each set will arrive with the amazing Fairy of the Rat whose aim is to support ALL of our plans to flourish this year.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Fondly,

Emily and the Bluebird Fairies

Happy Summer!

Hello Friends of Bluebird Fairies,

I hope this finds you well.

There is so much going on in our world AND this is the time for planting earnest wishes for good changes in our personal lives as well as in our small and global communities.

Today, after reading words from Lena of the Power Path School of Shamanism, I drew this fairy:

Summer 2020.jpg

I love her. Here she is, standing radiantly in the yellow light of the longest day of the year being the ‘Summer of New Ways of Being Here on Earth Fairy.’ Her question of “What do you want to see, feel, experience in your future?” will live in my heart and mind as I move through this important earth holiday.

I hope you can find moments to do this too.

Wishing you lots of light and love,

Emily and the Bluebird Fairies.

p.s. I will be in touch again soon to share some prosperity with you.
